Abstract
Purpose: This study aimed to explore the relationship among job stress, work-family conflict and turnover intention, and to verify whether the work-family conflict is an intervening variable. Methods: Use cross-section study on the accountant of National Senior High Schools in Taiwan. A total of 434 valid questionnaires were distributed and 356 valid questionnaires were collected. The return rate was 82%. The contents of the questionnaire include the Job stress scale 8 questions, the work-family conflict scale 18 questions, the turnover intentions scale 5 questions, the demographic basic information 8 questions, and uses the Likert scale (5 levels) to measure. Results: The mean of job stress was 3.35 for the accountants of schools, which was higher than work-family conflict (mean= 2.73) and the mean was 2.72 in the turnover intentions. The correlation between job stress and work-family conflict was highest (r = .607, p <0.01). Job stress and work family conflict have a significant impact on higher turnover intentions. The hierarchical regression analysis shows that job stress will have an impact on turnover intentions via the work-family conflict with partial mediating effect. Conclusion: This study confirms that accountants of schools have higher turnover intentions due to job stress and work-family conflict. It is recommended that the administration should pay more attention to the above factors for developing organizational management policies which will reduce turnover intentions of school accountants and improve organizational performance and working morale.
