Abstract
The food traceability is not only a consumer's demand for the safety of Agri-Food products, but also a support for sustainable agriculture and environmental protection. This is a case study on the food traceability from field practice management. Basella alba Linn. was selected as the research object, and the effect of applying different organic fertilizers on its growth traits was studied, and then the research on the food traceability to satisfy consumers' trust was proposed. The organic fertilizers used in this study were divided into solid fertilizers (control group) and liquid enzymes (experimental group). It took 42 days from sowing to maturity. After harvesting, the weight of the whole plant without roots and the length of the whole plant without roots were measured for differential analysis. The purpose was to identify the benefits of applying these two kinds of fertilizers to the growth of Basella alba Linn. The experimental Basella alba Linn. Planting farm is located in Miaoli County, Taiwan. The planting areas of the experimental group and the control group were 90 cm × 200 cm × 2 blocks each. 200 seeds were sown in each of the two groups, and 80 trees were randomly harvested after 42 days of ripening for production survey. The experimental data were analyzed by SPSS software for descriptive statistics and independent t test. The results showed that the growth of the test group using organic liquid enzymes was better than that of the control group with organic solid fertilizers. In terms of fresh weight of the whole plant without roots, the experimental group was 5.86 g heavier than the control group ( p≦0.001); In the length of the whole plant without roots, the experimental group was 2.20 cm longer than the control group ( p≦0.001). This result addresses that the addition of organic liquid enzymes in field management was superior to organic solid fertilizers, and could effectively increase the yield of organically cultivated Basella alba Linn. This found can provide farmers as a reference for improving the efficiency of field management.
