Abstract
We surveyed 745 patients who suffered from hip fracture in the years of 1973-1983 in Tri-Service General Hospital. The data of serum biochemistry revealed that the majority of ole patients caused by minor trauma had osteoporosis. Based on the grade of Singh index, the extent of osteoporosis increased with age in those ole patients. In order to decrease the fatal complication due to prolonged recumbency, we suggest to perform surgical treatment for the ole patients. Such a treatmen shortened very obviously the duration of hospital days.
