Abstract
Purpose: The Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) is an evaluation questionnaire that measures a learning environment. This study aims to find characteristics of students who repeated the same grade at our university by using the DREEM questionnaire. Methods: The survey was conducted on 737 medical students for 1-6 years. Eight months after the survey was conducted, we confirmed whether each student had advanced to the next grade or not. Results: Responses were obtained from 706 (95.8%) students (valid responserate). Out of 706 students, 636 advanced to the next grade, and the remaining 70 did not. A significant difference was found between the two groups in terms of the DREEM answer. Conclusions: The DREEM survey is useful not only for assessing student's learning environment but also for early detecting students who may not be able to advance to the next grade.
