Abstract
The purpose is to explore the process of sports socialization with elite taekwondo athletes and how it is affected by the socializing agents during initial and long-term training. The method uses qualitative research and semi-structured in-depth interviews with narratives of elite athletes. The interviewees have experienced taekwondo training for more than ten years and won the top three international competitions, a total of six. The results show the process of socialization into the sport, the sports socializing agents which family, coaches, and peers directly affect elite Taekwondo athletes, whereas the sports socializing agents which school, media, and the government have indirect effects. When initially participating in Taekwondo, coaches have the highest degree of influence on athletes in sports socialization. As the training time evolves, parents will have more effect than coaches. The elite Taekwondo athletes have better psychological capital, and when they encounter obstacles caused by the indirect influence of sports socializing agents, they can treat them with a calm mind. The conclusion suggests actively focusing on the sports socializing agents that directly affect sports, is conducive to the positive results of sports socialization for elite taekwondo athletes, so that they can maintain their motivation to participate and exert better sports performance. In addition, under the long-term continuous training, family influence increasing will be a new guideline for the training of elite athletes in the future.
