Abstract
This case series report consists of three patients who suffered from generalized chronic periodontitis. Before periodontal treatment, clinical examination of each patient revealed generalized gingival inflammation with bleeding on probing, a loss of attachment localized severe periodontal destruction and furcation involvement. The patients underwent non-surgical periodontal treatment, followed by surgical treatment that included root resection therapy of molars as well as crown restoration. After 1 year of follow up, clinical examination of the patients revealed all of the resected molars had periodontal pockets of < 4 mm, and attachment gains ranging from 4 to 7 mm. Radiographic examination showed there had been bone re-fill at all surgical sites. After the treatment, the patients maintained an excellent oral hygiene regimen as well as undergoing regular periodontal supportive care. Overall, there were overall improvements in the periodontal health of all three patients, which will facilitate prosthesis treatment and help produce a good prognosis.
