Abstract
Ischiofemoral impingement syndrome (IFI) is an occasional cause of hip pain that usually goes unrecognized. IFI is caused by impingement of the quadratus femoris muscle (QFM) between the ischial tuberosity and the lesser trochanter of femur, a condition best appreciated by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). We present a case report of bilateral IFI in a patient with symptoms of bilateral intractable hip pain. Radiographs of the pelvis and both hips joints show narrowed ischiofemoral interval on the right side and borderline narrowing on the left side. In addition to the typical MRI findings of narrowed ischiofemoral spaces (IFS) and quadratus femoris spaces (QFS) accompanied by edema and tear of the QFM, giant hemorrhagic bursitis with intra-bursal osteochondromatosis was also observed.
