Abstract
The study relates to a method for constructing an interactive installation for spring cattle model design used in traditional festivals by motion-sensing techniques. Sensors are equipped in specific locations in the spring cattle installation to detect the activations in these locations. The specific locations are the head, the back, the foot, the buttock, and the oxtail of the cattle. When people touch these locations, corresponding animations with implied meanings are demonstrated to express traditional knowledge and deep blessings. The installation is generally used in the Chinese New Year and the Lantern Festival celebrations to inherit traditional culture in the regions of Great China.
