Abstract
Master Taixu is a great leader of the modern Buddhism innovation movement. His Humanistic Buddhism is inherited and practiced in Taiwan and mainland. Nowadays, building Humanistic Buddhism is becoming a distinct feature of the times in mainland of China. However, from the mid-1950s to the end of the 'Cultural Revolution', due to the sensitivity of political situation, people even if Master's followers were afraid to say the name of 'Taixu' in public. In the 1980s, in the process of re-recognizing and learning Master Taixu in the mainland Buddhist and academic circles, Zhao Puchu played an unparalleled role, who led to Maste Taixur's Humanistic Buddhism. With the political prestige of the president of the Chinese Buddhist Association and the vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, he promoted and expanded the influence of Master Taixu and the thought Humanistic Buddhism among the mainland monks and nuns through official and private forms, especially the 'narrative' about the communication with the Master Taixu before his death. And he successfully established the human Buddhism as the mainstream direction of the development of Chinese Buddhism today.
