Abstract
The article discusses developments related to conservation efforts for Capercaillie in the national forest estate managed by the Forestry Commision Scotland (FCS). Level 1 actions by the FCS covering forests with records of Capercaillie sightings within the past 10 years include designation of the bird as a management objective in forest plans and protection of existing leks. Level 2 actions include yearly monitoring of bird population and control of crows and foxes in breeding season.
