Abstract
The article discusses a research study on oceanographic projects aimed to determine charge and density wave (CDW) routes and properties on the fringe of Amundsen Sea, detect fresh water input from ice shelf basal melting and investigate the role of the ocean on West Antarctic Ice Sheet (WAIS) mass loss. Conducted were temperature and conductivity sensor calibrations, the conductivity corrected through salinity measurements, oxygen corrected through a Dissolved Oxygen Analyser (DOA) and 61 conductivity, temperature and depth (CTD) profile measurements in different water depths from 1,000 meters to 4,206 meters. Preliminary results include the contribution of CDW characteristic monitoring on Amundsen Sea and the thermosalinograph-provided data on changes in salinity and temperature.
