Abstract
The article focuses on Plato's analysis of the images of Socrates and Alcibiades. Plato evaluated Alcibiades by forming a comparison between Socrates and various images of Silenos stressing that Alcibiades and Socrates both own statues of gods inside. The author points out that one reason these statues weren't able to last is because they were all made of wood instead of indestructible materials such as stones. Apart from this, she also notes the significance of "Vierges ouvrantes" in recognizing the Plato's representation of Socrates. Several images including "Vierges ouvrante" and "Sculptor Carving a Wooden Herm" are provided.
