Abstract
The article discusses how Fritz Bauer, who was a German Jewish judge and prosecutor, fought for a reform of criminal law in Germany. Bauer had to emerge from the protective shadow of the privacy to shed light on the survival of the murderers among people. Biographical research has in the meantime emphasized the public work of the lawyer through a variety of publications.
