Abstract
The article discusses a study investigating the presence of Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd) in native amphibians being sold at two commercial markets and at a herpetarium in Mexico City, Mexico. Topics discussed include Mexico being the fifth highest amphibian diversity on the American continent, global trade in amphibians for human consumption giving rise to Bd, and finding that Bd is capable of sexual reproduction between panzootic and endemic genotypes.
