Abstract
In the article, the author discusses the governance, human rights and technological challenges over the use of digital technology in COVID-19 pandemic surveillance. Other topics include the potential of digital technologies in improving the breadth, accuracy, reliability and speed of public health surveillance strategies like contact tracing, and some contact tracing tools that employ global positioning system (GPS) services like Ghana's COVID-19 tracker.
