Mrs. —, aged 40, has many times during the last ten years told me about attacks of palpitation which she has had and which have come on suddenly, lasted from a few seconds to ten minutes and then as suddenly stopped. Many times I have been sent for when she had been having the attacks, but the heart would have quieted before I reached her. After an attack had passed off she would be weak and exhausted for a few hours, and then be in her usual health, which in appearance was a little below normal.
