Abstract
This qualitative study describes the support behaviors of hospice nurses related to their job of caring for dying patients and their families. The findings reveal that these hospice nurses are very clear about when they need support and explicit about what they expect to happen when they need support. These nurses provide and receive the support they need to do their work predominently from each other. The findings of this study have implications for administrators and educators. Replication of this study in other work settings is called for.
