Abstract
The article presents a retrospective epidemiological study of the mortality of neonatal and growing Murrah buffalo calves at an organized herd. Compared to cow neonates, buffalo neonates are more susceptible to infectious conditions due to the immune status. For the study, researchers conducted a necropsy test of 467 buffalo calves from 1993-1994 to 2006-2007. They found that pneumonia, enteritis and pneumoenteritis accounted for an estimated 80 percent of the total mortalities among calves.
