Abstract
Two surveys were conducted among 3,877 Japanese women ages 20 to 44 in Kochi prefecture during April, 1971. The studies investigated whether or not induced abortion was associated with undesirable outcome in subsequent pregnancy, using the rate of prematurity and spontaneous abortion as indices. Results suggest that the rates of prematurity and/or spontaneous abortion were not increased in pregnancies subsequent to an induced abortion. Future areas of research are suggested.
