Abstract
The article discusses a study which examined ABO blood variants and secretor phenotype from single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in ABO and FUT2 genes. Logistic regression was used to calculate adjusted odds ratios (OR) for pancreatic cancer. Findings suggest that ABO allele subtypes corresponding to increased glucosyltransferase activity were linked with increased risk of pancreatic cancer. Results support the hypothesis on the influence of ABO glycosyltransferase activity on cancer risk.
