Abstract
•Schizophrenia is a neuropsychiatric disorder hypothesized to involve neurodevelopmental changes in gene regulation.•Epigenetic modifications play a fundamental role in regulating gene expression.•Recent studies have provided evidence to implicate altered epigenetic processes in the etiology of schizophrenia.•Epigenomic signatures of disease-relevant cell-types can be used to interpret results from genetic studies of schizophrenia.
