Abstract
•No guidelines are available to evaluate use of recycled plastics in cosmetic packaging.•We performed a risk-based assessment to evaluate use of rHDPE in cosmetic packaging.•MIGRATEST®EXP software used to predict contaminant migration from rHDPE packaging.•Exposure to contaminants from cosmetics packaged in rHDPE will not exceed TTC.•We demonstrate that rHDPE can be used safely for cosmetic products.
