Abstract
The article discusses the reasons behind the need for sustainable design. Designers have the power to positively influence consumers. Sustainability can be incorporated in the way they work and the materials they use to become part of their world outlook. Design students should be aware that their green designs will set apart their work and help them compete in future markets. Designers also have to demand for sustainable materials from their suppliers. Communication is a powerful tool in the promotion of sustainability.
