The Application of the modelling and simulation system SONCHES to animal production systems is discussed. The elaborated model is aimed at describing the broiler production process. It consists of a single animal model embedded in a stock model for intra-species interactions. The internal structure of all submodels is described. Human control is mapped by different energy and protein contents of the food ration and by climate control Cventi1ation including heating and cooling) with its interrelation to food conversion efficiency. All controllable variables and yield are economically evaluable to perform a cost-benefit analysis.
