Abstract
This article relates the story of Carl and Phyllis Guthrie and their marriage at the beginning of World War II. Carl was drafted and left for basic training when Phyllis was pregnant. Phyllis recalls her job at the Naval Ordnance plant in South Charleston, West Virginia, after the baby was born and during the war. Phyllis and Carl recall their lives and experiences during the war.
