The article focuses on the Coronation carpet, a great classical Persian carpet from the first half of the 16th century, to be showcased at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) in California in January 2010. The carpet has a typical large central medallion with smaller pendant medallions on a pale floral ground and is decorated with winged celestial beings and the dragons and phoenixes. The modern historical record of the carpet dates back to 1902.
