Abstract
The article states that the examinations may be over, but now one needs to join the right practice. The author says that throughout his registrar year he had been told that there was a chronic shortage of GPs and that there were hundreds of jobs available. One can look through journals and newspapers such as GP for advertisements for jobs but probably the best way is to contact your local primary care organisation. At the time of writing, the BMA's guidance for salaried GPs states that full-time GPs (nine sessions) can expect to be paid a basic minimum salary of between pounds 47,710 and pounds 72,478.
