Abstract
The editors present their conclusions about environmental topics discussed in the book "Understanding & Solving Environmental Problems in the 21st Century." They point out that there are extremely few simulation models concerned with integrated ecological-economic-social systems being developed. They question whether natural and social scientists should play a more active role in decisionmaking. They express their views on the interrelationship between ecosystem health and human health, ecological engineering and quality of life.
