Abstract
An essay is presented concerning the response of Methodists known as Primitive Methodists to World War I and the aftermath of the war. It examines the attitudes of Primitive Methodists who were members of the British House of Commons, particularly Charles James Simmons. It discusses the pacifism of Primitive Methodists, Simmons' allegiances between church and country, and his service in the military.
