Abstract
The reactions of sodium dihydronaphthylide with dichlorodiphenylmethane and 9,9-dichlorofluorene in THF at 0°C have been found to proceed by an electron transfer mechanism involving α-chloro radicals, vicinal-dichlorides and an equilibrating pair of classical and bridged β-chloro radicals.
