Abstract
The article discusses the highlights of a research conducted by a team from Murdoch Childrens Research Institute to determine how genes affect the ability of skeletal muscle. Topics covered include the association between ACTN3 gene and athletic performance, details relating to the protein and fiber composition of the human skeletal muscle, and the important role of the R577X variant of the ACTN3 gene in helping the muscles generate strength.
