Abstract
Nontuberculous mycobacteria are environmental organisms that are increasingly causing chronic and debilitating pulmonary infections, of which Mycobacterium aviumcomplex (MAC) is the most common pathogen. MAC pulmonary disease (MAC-PD) is often difficult to treat, often requiring long-term multidrug antibiotic therapy.
