Abstract
•Hyperostosis of meningiomas is associated with progression and recurrence.•The molecules regulating bone infiltration of meningiomas remain unclear.•We evaluated the expression of molecules potentially implicated in hyperostosis in a convexity meningioma.•MP-1, MMP-2, MMP-9, and IL-6 were detected in the meningioma with hyperostosis.•These molecules were not detected in a meningioma without hyperostosis.•Little brain expression of these factors was detected in public human tissue gene expression databases.•Our study suggests a possible role for IL-6 and MMPs in hyperostosis of meningiomas.
