Abstract
The article discusses the pruning of young poplar trees. There is a growing interest in using poplars for timber. Poplar wood has been utilized for fencing, gates, stockyards and truck decks, panelling, furniture, veneers, and to create fiberboard, pulp, and paper. In New Zealand, a study of the benefits of pruning poplars was conducted that reveals that there would be an increase in pasture growth under pruned trees because of the increase in transmitted radiation to the ground surface.
