Abstract
•Among 826 patients admitted for Clostridioides difficileinfection in 2 tertiary centers in Switzerland, 36.2% presented with severe infection according to the Infectious Diseases Society of America criteria.•The Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) was associated with an increased risk of mortality in the multivariable analysis.•None of the factors recorded on admission were significantly associated with increased risk of recurrence.•Two factors were associated with severity in the multivariable analysis: male sex and CCI.
