Abstract
The authors discuss the call for action to strengthen nursing in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. Topics mentioned include the rate of diabetes in the Region as of November 2020, the role of health workers at primary care level in prevention and management of non-communicable diseases including diabetes, and the importance of investment in creating jobs that will enable nurses to work across the full scope of practice in primary care.
