Abstract
The article discusses a group of paintings depicting the Perso-Russian Wars of 1804-1813 and 1826-1828 currently housed in the Irān Bāstān Museum (Archeological Museum) in Tehran, Iran. It states that one of the most impressive paintings mentioned, in terms of its size, is "A Battle of Fath 'Ali Shāh with the Russians." Details of this painting, such as dating, subject, and original location are discussed. Additionally, the historical significance of the work as representing a portrayal of the only Persian victory against the Russians is also mentioned. The article concludes that the painting represents a milestone with regards both to art history and the recording of history in the early Qajar period in Persia.
