Abstract
Ion channel subunits typically assemble in the endoplasmic reticulum. a-SNAP orchestrates a unique assembly and calcium selectivity of Orai1 subunits into functional multimers. Dynamic assembly of Orai1 and its dependence on a-SNAP could enable localization of calcium signals and regulation of rate and amount of calcium influx.
