Abstract
The article focuses on the application of bariatric surgery as treatment for morbidly obese individual. Bariatric operations have very significant benefits in the treatment of the conditions like diabetes, hypertension, osteoarthritis and snoring. They also have a dramatic effect on life expectancy. Untreated, a morbidly obese individual has only a third the prospect of reaching 65 compared to someone of ideal weight. Bariatric surgery can restore this to near normal.
