Abstract
The article explores the feasibility of advancing resveratrol into clinical evaluation as a cancer chemopreventive agent and tested the hypothesis that consumption of up to 5 grams is safe and furnishes systemic levels of phytochemical commensurate with cancer chemopreventive activity. The results suggest that resveratrol undergoes avid metabolism in humans, which limits the availability of the parent molecule at organs remote from the site of absorption targeted for chemoprevention.
