Abstract
Many of the symptoms described by parents of an unsettled infant may be associated with an allergic reaction to cows' milk protein. The lack of clear assessment and management options meant that delays in the diagnosis of non-IgE-mediated cows' milk allergy (CMA) were common. To improve the experience of parents and provide appropriate management of the unsettled infant, NHS Tayside has worked in partnership with a range of health professionals to develop a comprehensive care pathway for staff to support parents with an unsettled infant and to ensure the early diagnosis and treatment of non-IgE-mediated CMA.
