Abstract
The study examines the improved bone size and stiffness in mice without the caveolin-1-/- gene. Researchers studied the bones of mice using μCT imaging and mechanical testing. Increased trabecular and cortical bone volume, and increased femural bone strength were observed. The study concluded that caveolin-1-/- deficiency caused rapid bone development by maintaining a low differentiation rate in osteoblast progenitors.
