Abstract
The article discusses a study which determined the correlation between having first vaginal intercourse before 15 years of age and sexual risk behaviours among 797 Canadian female adolescents aged from 15 to 19 years old. It was found that about a quarter of the respondents from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia has had their first intercourse before the age 15 years and that these women had consistent and independent cross-sectional associations. The study proposed that programs meant to delay age of first intercourse are important to be examined.
