Abstract
The article presents information related to the European Union (EU) School Fruit Scheme which was introduced in November 2008 to promote consumption of fruits and vegetables among European school children. The scheme, which is part of the Common Market Organisation for Fruit and Vegetables (F&V), provides children aged from six to ten years in educational establishments with free fresh and processed F&V. It has been revealed by studies that such schemes improve F&V consumption by children.
