Abstract
The article examines the demand for funds by business enterprises in the United States during the years 1946-1948. Several developments characterized American business financing during this period. These developments include, an increase in outlays on new plants and equipment, a postwar increase in the dollar value of inventories carried on the books of non-financial corporations, a reduction in non-financial business corporations' liquidity, rise in corporate profits after taxes and a move to external sources of funds by businesses.
