Abstract
The article discusses the democratization in Brazil and Argentina. It is said that military and civilian rule operates largely in these two countries because of a high degree of military self-confidence and the willingness of many civilians to contemplate military rule in which Argentina and Brazil had certainly suffered major setbacks during its period of military rule. It is analyzed that the political system in these two countries may undergo genuine change if civilian attitudes to the military and military attitudes to civilian politics change fundamentally. The paper also discusses the difference in introducing democracy in Brazil and Argentina in which it is considered a valid and important distinction but it is one which requires some modification if it is to be useful.
