Abstract
This article presents information about the research paper entitled "Skin cancers and their relationship to human papilloma virus infection in a group of renal allograft recipients," presented by E. C. Benton, M. H. Bunney, and others at the British Society for Investigative Dermatology Annual Meeting, Cambridge, September 1987. Renal allograft recipients, especially those who have had their grafts for over 10 years, commonl develop viral warts, keratoses, small scaly plaques and skin cancers. Their immunocompromised state and this array of cutaneous lesions resembles the situation in epidermodysplasia verruciformis, where skin cancers are associated with unusual types of human papilloma virus infection.
