Abstract
The article presents a commentary on exacerbation of stigma and vulnerabilities of COVID-19 during the opioid epidemic. Topics include limited economic and educational opportunities, increased rates of alcohol and tobacco use, and health care shortages; and research has demonstrated that big events such as economic decline and disease outbreaks can lead to an increase in deaths.
