Abstract
The article cites a study conducted to investigate the effect of cadmium (Cd) on photosynthesis and chlorophyll fluorescence of four barley genotypes with different Cd tolerance in seedling growth and nutrient uptake, with an effort to quantify the physiological cifect of Cd stress on the photosynthetic apparatus of barley plants. Results of the study revealed that the negative effect of Cd on net photosynthetic rate is due to complex physiological disturbances, including the inhibition of chlorophyll biosynthesis and disordered stomata behavior.
