Abstract
The article presents a study which determined the effects of the sorting of growth plate chondrocytes. Novel, zone-specific cell surface markers of chosen chondrocyte populations derived from growths plates of mice were identified by transcriptome profiling of microdissected zones. Flow cytometry and immunomagnetic cell separation were utilized to quantify, enrich and characterize populations of chondrocytes. The results suggest the approach gives a base for the study of cartilage development in mice.
